October is the perfect month to get over the summertime sadness and get ready for autumn with all of the exciting things taking place!  Who doesn’t enjoy some fresh apples and cider? Pumpkin picking and carving? Decorating for Halloween?  Testing your bravery at spooky attractions? Having an excuse to dress as silly as you want? The list goes on and on. Here are some things to do in our area this month!

Frightening Attractions

Jason’s Woods: The New Beginning – Lancaster, PA

New to Jason’s Woods this year, they are now featuring 6 full size mind-blowing attractions with even more horror!  Same “slashed” ticket prices as last year, but with expanded attractions and new chilling options. New characters, new scenes, new stories, and new horrors! BRAND NEW this year is the Carnival of Fear which sounds beyond terrifying. If you are afraid of clowns proceed with extreme caution at this carnival.

Bates Motel & Haunted Hayride Attractions – Glen Mills, PA

Arasapha Farm has been stunning its visitors for 25 years and has received rave reviews from many national publications. To celebrate their 25th anniversary they have added a brand new giant set to their #1 rated Haunted Hayride that will bring the horror to the next level. They are even bringing back the fan favorite Headless Horseman scene for 2015. You can also venture through the Bates Motel and Haunted Corn Maze if you dare!

ShocktoberFest – Sinking Spring, PA

This year USA Today declared SchocktoberFest to be the #3 Haunted Attraction in the USA! The Travel Channel refers to it as, “One of the scariest places in America.” New for 2015, they have transformed into Zombie World Theme Park with 7 killer experiences. Imagine real life Jurassic World – but with zombies! This is sure to be one that you do not want to miss. Shocktoberfest is even open the two weekends following Halloween if your schedule cannot fit it in this month.

Fun for the Whole Family

Highland Orchards – West Chester, PA

If you are from around here, you have definitely heard about Highland Orchards’ apple cider donuts by now!  If you have not tried them, they are a must have.  Visitors of all ages will enjoy the traditional fall fun that Highland Orchards has to offer.  Stop here to take a hayride to pick your own apples and pumpkins (even more selections during May-August) or just visit the market and bakery.

Milky Way Farm – Chester Springs, PA

Milky Way Farm is a 103-acre historic dairy farm and creamery in Chester Springs.  The Matthews family has called the farm their home for the last four generations and they are passionate about what they do.  Hayrides, family friendly corn maze, pumpkin picking, tours for hands-on learning about dairy farming, and the famous Creamery are some of the activities you can enjoy here. You absolutely cannot leave without trying something from the creamery!

Linvilla Orchards – Media, PA

The year round attractions offered here are endless! There are plenty of family friendly happenings for everyone.  You can stop by the Grill for lunch and pick up some goodies from Foodland and the Farm Market & Bakery.  Pumpkinland is a crowd pleaser from September through November 8th! Other things to do include hayrides, pick your own, fishing, barnyard animal visits, witches house, train rides, face painting, mazes, pony rides, and many more!

We hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween!
