Fight The Flu:

As we swing into the holiday season, we become a society focused on appreciating our friends and family. Importantly - we visit and spend time together.

There is another place where people gather: the office. Employers can prevent employee absence by taking a role in educating their staff. A healthier environment for all should be at the top of our to-do list.

Use this printable PDF flier to remind
your family, friends and employees on the importance of washing hands!

Do you have the tools at your office or at home to fight a virus? I think so!

Wash Your Hands.

Simple soap and water will do wonders in keeping healthy!

This easy step can create a healthy work environment.  Reminder to wash your hands when you come home from shopping, before touching food and after visiting the bathroom. Touching your eyes and face will spread viruses that you may have picked up on a counter at the local food mart.

Dr. Richard Putnam Wenzel, expert in infectious diseases, shared the following advice with me.

  • Take the flu vaccine – it is approximately 60% effective in preventing the flu
  • Wash hands frequently
  • Stop shaking hands during the flu season- hit elbows only (or do nothing) when you meet people
  • Stay home from work or school if you have symptoms
  • Assume all environments are contaminated
  • Do not touch your face and eyes!!

Flu Shot.

I encourage employers to check with Miller’s Insurance Agency regarding their Employee Benefits plan. Flu shots are often covered by the health care carriers at no cost. We can provide you with details allowing you to offer these benefits to your employees (and in turn, increasing employee attendance over the winter months).

ALWAYS check with your medical provider first. Typically, flu shots are provided in the last quarter of the year. The time is right now to have that discussion. Be safe and make that decision but don’t forget the importance of HAND WASHING!
